Is your kitchen feeling a little… clinical? For years, the UK was dominated by “hospital-clean” aesthetics—stark white gloss, grey tiling, and cold chrome. But as we move into 2026, the trend has shifted. We are entering the era of Warm Minimalism.
At M&M, we’re seeing more Dundee homeowners trading in the cold for cosy.
Here are 5 ways to bring the soul back into your kitchen.

1. Trade Stark White for Natural Oak
Nothing adds instant warmth like the grain of natural wood. In our latest Supply Only project (featured below), we replaced white units with rich Oak cabinetry. It maintains a modern silhouette but completely changes the temperature of the room.
2. Soften the Surfaces with Marble
If you want to keep things bright but avoid that “cold” feeling, marble-effect worktops are the answer. The delicate veining provides a visual texture that flat white laminates can’t match.
3. The “Mixed Metallic” Rule
Stainless steel is practical, but too much of it can feel industrial. Introduce Bronze or Brass hardware. Whether it’s your taps or cabinet handles, these warmer metals act like jewellery for your kitchen.
4. Layer Your Lighting
A cosy kitchen needs “moods.” Instead of just one bright overhead light, use under-cabinet LEDs and pendant lights to create soft pools of light. It turns a workspace into a living space.
5. Focus on “Lived-In” Textures
From textured splash backs to fabric bar stools, adding non-reflective surfaces helps absorb sound and light, making the kitchen feel like a sanctuary rather than a laboratory.
Project Spotlight
We recently put these rules into practice for a local client. This was a fantastic Supply Only job where we provided the design and high-spec cabinetry, while the expert installation was handled by the team at UNO Installations.

The Result: A stunning balance of Oak and Marble that proved you can have a clean, modern kitchen that still feels like a home.
