We’re thrilled to introduce our newest team member Barry Douglas to the M&M family, a kitchen design expert with over 20 years in the industry!
“I have always had a keen interest in building, architecture, and design and when I left school, I studied architecture at Robert Gordon University, graduating in 2001.
From here I started my working career with Aberdeenshire Council as a trainee Planning Officer before moving to work for my family company that were kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom specialists. I worked there from 2004 until June 2024 and gained huge experience and knowledge in all aspects of the industry.
I started off as the surveyor where I was responsible for detailed home inspections, furniture ordering and fitting details for on site installations. After 8 years of this role, I moved into the sales side of the company where I gained good knowledge of the Winner Design software and was detailed with sales of mainly kitchen and bathrooms. It was while doing this role I became experienced in the Schuller kitchen brand as one of the first companies in Scotland to use the manufacturer. I then spent the next 9 years being responsible as senior designer for undertaking designs and sales as well as the daily overseeing of the showroom.
From this role I moved on to the day to running of the company up to the date I left for an amazing new challenge at M&M.
It is the 9 years of selling that gives me an amazing understanding of the Schuller kitchens, how best to design with them and help customers achieve the best design for the room and budget. My knowledge of Winner Design software having used this for over 20 years means I am able to produce detailed designs with amazing 3D images to match.
As for myself I have been married for over 10 years, have 3 children, and live in Laurencekirk. I enjoy watching football and F1, and at the weekend I really enjoy going for a cycle and regularly undertake various challenges like Ride the North and The Mid-Summer Beer Happening sportive.“
